Tuesday Morning Women’s Bible Study

Laura Spencer, Facilitator

Women of all ages and stages are invited to participate in our inter-denominational Bible study! From every corner of the Statesville community, women gather from 9:15-11:30 on Tuesday mornings in the Fellowship Hall at Broad Street UMC. Our schedule includes a time of praise and worship, small group discussion and a DVD session.  A light lunch is provided on the first Tuesday of each month by our church hostess and the cost is simply your donation.  Childcare is offered at no charge.

Each year study guides are purchased for fall, winter and spring sessions.  A minimum of 30 minutes a day is generally required to complete your daily “homework” in God’s Word.  We have enjoyed studies by Beth Moore, Andy Stanley, David Jeremiah, Priscilla Shirer, Kay Arthur and Virtue for Women studies. Our current study is “Experiencing God.”

Each study has helped us grow in our knowledge of God.  It has been exciting to see a contagious love for God developing in every woman’s heart! As we have deepened our own personal relationships with our Lord-our families, neighborhoods and communities have been powerfully impacted as well.

You can take part as an enthusiastic and faithful member, as a small group leader or as a valuable servant on the Administrative Team.  We have a spot for you! Come join us! ~Contact Laura Spencer for further information at 878-0266 or spencerlaura193@gmail.com

Evening Bible Study

Kelly Cunningham, Facilitator

This group meets weekly in the evening, currently on Tuesdays. The group is comprised of both church members and non-members. Our purpose is to provide an additional venue for Bible study and fellowship, in a small group setting that accommodates people who work or are otherwise unavailable during weekdays. Our studies incorporate books, scripture, study guides and/or DVDs, depending on the material available for a given study. Studies selected are based on group member suggestions and consensus.

OUR VISION

Learn more about the Word of God, Jesus’ love and His life by reading and studying the Bible daily. Build community among us by creating an atmosphere of fellowship, support, sharing and learning. Enrich our lives by gathering together and applying the Word of God to our lives. Deepen our spiritual relationship with God through prayer, listening, faith, obedience and service.

OUR MISSION

Commit to study and prepare for regular weekly meetings. Foster acceptance for, sharing with and listening to each other during the week and when we are together. Pray for our understanding, each other, our families and our church. Be involved with and support our community and church through service.

OUR VALUES

Praying, listening and hearing God speak through our studies and each other. Caring for and supporting each other through fellowship. Nurturing our spiritual growth. Reaching out to others and touching them by living in a manner so they see Christ in us. Using the time we have together wisely. Creating a place for honest and confidential sharing and acceptance.

Monday Afternoon Bible Study Group

A group who meet together for Bible study, prayer and sharing.  Disciplines, a publication from Upper Room which uses the Lectionary readings for the week, is our study guide. Members of this group have found that in a small group setting, persons become very close friends as they share their faith journey and pray for one another. We also have learned that using the Lectionary readings as daily personal Bible study brings real depth in experiencing Scripture. We hear them read during worship on Sunday, hear a sermon using one of the readings, then meet together on Monday at 2:00 PM in the Library to discuss those Scriptures. This group is always open to anyone who is interested.  Jane Campbell leads the group. For more information, call Jane at 704-873-3279.
