Children’s Choir (Younger Elementary)

Kindergarten – Grade 2

We meet each Wednesday afternoon from 4:30 - 5:15 p.m. in the Choir Room.

These wonderful children sing at least once a month during the school year.  They are learning some basic music skills and learning songs about God’s love.  The choristers can join their family following rehearsal for Wednesday night dinner and activities.

Children’s Choir (Older Elementary)

Grade 3 - Grade 5

The older elementary choir meets every Tuesday afternoon from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. during the school year in the Choir Room. They will also sing at least once monthly and continue to expand their musical knowledge.  They are often playing Orff and rhythm instruments with many of their songs.  We will be expanding handchime instruction and they will be playing voluntaries in worship periodically this year.

 Adult Handbells

Our faithful Handbell Choir meets each Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary from September - May.  We will continue to play each month and during holiday seasons.  We are looking to enlarge this group.  Permanent and substitute ringers are needed.  It is a small group and an excellent way to plug into a Broad Street ministry.  We will be participating in a Handbell Festival in Charlotte this November and are currently learning music for that event.

Adult Choir

Loyal, dedicated, caring and fun-loving describes this microcosm of BSUMC.  You will see our choir members participating in various ways in the life of this church.  They meet every month of the year except July.  The commitment is outstanding.  You DO NOT have to read music.  The majority of our choir cannot read music but they can tap their toe, listen, and learn well.  You can too!!!  Wednesday evenings, 7:15 - 8:45 p.m. in the Choir Room.

Broad Street String Along Band

We are so proud of our String Band!!!  They are currently meeting at times convenient to their life and work schedules.  Wes Palmes, Jim Parker, Scott Shoemaker, John Dower and Robert Palmes enrich our worship services in such a meaningful way.  They continue to expand their repertoire.  We have begun a new tradition with them leading the music on the last Cool and Casual Sunday of the summer.  We are so grateful to them sharing their time and talent here at Broad Street.
